Massage from the CORE

The core is a group of muscles used to stabilize the thorax and the pelvis during dynamic movement and it also provides internal pressure to expel substances. The core is involved in most full-body functional movement. In addition, the core affects postural alignment. The core muscles assist in maintaining alignment of the spine, ribs, and pelvis during functional movement. Research shows a strong link between a lack of core stability and many injuries.

What is important about postural muscles from our perspective is the fact that they react against the force of gravity and that they act outside of our volition - we cannot normally control postural muscles directly, only indirectly. Learn how to control the use of the core in massage.

Esomassage uses the inner structure of taichi to effortlessly apply earth energy during massage. This reduces strain and fatigue on the therapist without reducing the amount of pressure applied to the client. By using the principles taught in the course, you will discover the ancient secrets of qi, its relationship to structure (posture) and how to utilize these secrets in all massage routines with greater results for the client and improved stamina for the therapist.

A special taichi form for the therapist will be taught to help keep the kinetic knowledge of Esomassage intact.
New hand positions will be taught as well as the entire Esomassage routine.

Learning Outcomes:

1.       Explain how “Circle Hands” aids in the transfer of energy from the earth to the client.

2.       Name 3 areas of the body where the “Sun Fist” may replace the thumb or hand.

3.       Name the contact point of the “Cotton Fist” and describe its effect on soft tissue.

4.       Demonstrate with a partner the “Cat’s Paw” sequence on the plantar surface of the feet.

5.       Demonstrate one use of the forearm as a support to the “Dragon’s Wing”.

6.       Demonstrate the Esomassage prone routine.

7.       Demonstrate the Esomassage supine routine.

8.       Demonstrate the Taichi Form for Massage Therapists

bulletForearm/Elbow – The forearm is often used in conjunction with many of the other hand positions as a way to add support to the other hand and the surrounding tissue. The Elbow is an excellent tool for stripping the lamina grooves of the spine, myofascia release techniques and trigger point therapies
